GateGlass ships small and often. Fixes come from real sessions on real sites — most of what follows started as something breaking in front of somebody.

Signing in works. So does installing mods. And your session actually sticks.
  • Fixed"Sign in with Google" now completes. The sign-in popup was being closed and re-opened by GateGlass, which severed the link back to the page that opened it — so you could authenticate successfully and then watch the login fail anyway. Popups now keep that link, and are checked at the network layer like everything else. The same fix covers any site using a popup to sign you in.
  • FixedGoogle's own sign-in infrastructure was being labelled known ad-tech mid-login, and denying it once quietly blocked the rest of the sign-in. Google's sign-in, passkey and reCAPTCHA hosts are now identified properly.
  • FixedA browser-level permission override was silently denying every permission type — including the ones newer "Sign in with Google" flows depend on — with no prompt and no trace in the audit log. GateGlass now denies only the specific nuisance permissions it means to deny.
  • FixedA prompt appearing mid-passkey could take focus and cancel the Windows Hello dialog. Prompts raised by background traffic no longer steal focus; prompts for something you clicked still come to the front.
  • NotePasskeys: use a separate device. GateGlass runs a fresh browser profile every session — that's the point of it — so passkeys saved to Google Password Manager or stored inside another browser profile simply aren't there to use. Choose "Use a phone or tablet" and scan the QR code, or use a hardware security key. Both work normally. More on this →
  • NewSites you opt into keeping now keep what actually matters. Cookies alone missed the point on sites that store your state locally instead — a watch list or reading position lives in local storage, not a cookie. Opting a site in now preserves both, encrypted on your machine.
  • FixedSession data was only saved when GateGlass shut down cleanly, so closing the window right after signing in could lose it. It's now saved continuously, and closing the window keeps what you had.
  • FixedPartitioned cookies — the kind embedded sign-in frames set — are now preserved exactly as the site set them, instead of coming back subtly wrong on the next launch.
  • FixedExtensions and Opera GX mods install properly. Clicking Install could never work through a gated session: the package was saved to your Downloads folder as an inert file instead of being handed to the browser's installer. Installs now go through the browser itself — approve the prompt, click Install again, and it installs.
  • FixedOpera GX mods render under carryover. The browser reading its own installed content no longer raises prompts that stalled mod visuals mid-session.
  • NoteGX's own settings pages still come up blank. Mods, GX Control, Shaders and GX Cleaner render empty under carryover — Chromium won't paint the browser's internal pages while they're driven from outside.   • FixedThe prompt window could spawn behind a full-screen window and never be seen — leaving you waiting on a prompt you had no idea existed.

First stable release.
  • SecureThe licence check moved down to the network layer, so it can't be walked around by typing a URL straight into the browser's own address bar. The in-app interface is unaffected.
  • SecurePurchase, licence, and download delivery gained a full automated test suite covering signature verification and download entitlement. No defect was found — the tests exist to keep it that way.

  • NewQuitting now shows what the session actually did: requests seen, allowed, gated, denied and blocked, the noisiest hosts, any blocked download attempts, and a health badge for the session.

Exports that actually save, imports you can pick apart.
  • FixedGateGlass's own exports were being caught by its own download gate — the file silently never saved. All seven exports (rules, visit report, audit log, bookmarks, notes, appearance) now write straight to your Downloads folder and tell you the real path.
  • NewImporting a rules file is no longer all-or-nothing. You get a per-site checklist, with rules that would skip the gate flagged in red and sorted to the top, so a shared file can't quietly re-allow something.

Quality-of-life pass, plus eleven bugs found by review.
  • FixedWriting a rule could auto-answer a download or popup prompt that was still waiting for you. It can't any more.
  • Fixed"Keep cookies for 12 hours" could quietly harden into a permanent allow. Temporary cookie windows now roll back when they lapse, and refuse to apply to a site you've denied.
  • FixedPressing Enter on a prompt no longer triggers whichever button happened to be focused.

Bring your bookmarks; share your rules.
  • NewImport bookmarks from Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera or Opera GX. Read-only, opt-in, and it never overwrites or evicts what you already have.
  • NewSave and load site-rule files to share a setup with someone else. The import preview lists exactly which hosts a file would allow, so an untrusted file can't sneak a tracker past the gate.
  • FixedRevisiting a page in a new tab no longer produces duplicate entries in the restore list, or double-opens on restore.

Five reported bugs, fixed and verified live.
  • FixedDenying a page no longer strands an error tab — the tab keeps showing the page you were on, and a denied popup closes instead of leaving a blank window behind.
  • FixedThe prompt window stopped appearing full-screen for an instant before snapping down, and now closes itself once the queue is empty. Prompts belonging to a closed tab are cancelled instead of lingering forever.
  • FixedTab addresses stay accurate on single-page sites that change the URL without reloading, so bookmarks and pickers show where you really are.
  • FixedOpera GX carryover: GX Corner renders properly, and Opera's own infrastructure is no longer mislabelled as ad-tech.
  • NewThe address bar suggests URLs from this session and your last one.

  • FixedGateGlass no longer registers itself as a default-browser candidate. It stays out of your Windows defaults unless you explicitly put it there.
How updates reach you. GateGlass checks for updates only if you leave that switch on, and every update manifest is signature-checked before anything is downloaded. Nothing installs on its own — you're always asked. See the privacy notice for what a check does and doesn't reveal.
